What percentage of people use the snooze button?
About 57% of adults hit the snooze button on a typical morning, according to a 2022 University of Notre Dame study of more than 21,000 wearable users. Among those, 45% qualify as 'heavy snoozers' who hit it on 80%+ of mornings.
The headline numbers
Mason et al. (2022) analyzed wake-up data from 21,000+ wearable device users. The result: 57% of sleep sessions ended with at least one snooze press, averaging 2.4 presses per morning.
Subgroup patterns
Women snoozed 50% more often than men. Snoozing was more frequent on weekdays than weekends. Heavy users (80%+ snooze rate) made up 45% of the snoozing population.
